An initiative taken to enable the weaker sections of the Indian society to grow, learn, develop new skills, earn a livelihood, and become self-sufficient.
Wingify Foundation aims to deliver long term benefits to the Indian society, leaving a lifetime impact on its beneficiaries. With this vision, the team decided to provide free of cost learning opportunities to our society's underprivileged sections, specifically girls and women aging between 17 and 30 years. The Foundation believes that every individual who has the zeal to do something and prove their worth in today's male-dominated society must be supported and given every opportunity to excel.
With this mindset, Wingify Foundation conceptualized and officially inaugurated Project Unnati on March 8, 2019. The date in itself holds high significance as it is celebrated as 'International Women's Day,' and it synchronizes well with the project's goals.
In its first phase, Project Unnati has established its base or Center of Excellence in the outer areas of North Delhi, covering rural vicinities like Samaipur, Badli, Bawana, Shahbad, Narela, and Khera. These areas are full of JJ clusters where a major chunk of temporary and unskilled labor resides with men being the sole earners.
At the beginning of the project, a detailed need assessment for the availability of target beneficiaries and the possible scope of employment and entrepreneurship was done by the Foundation. Based on the research results, two sub-projects were launched under Unnati, namely Beauty Culture and Fashion Designing.
Beauty Culture - a program that enables beauty enthusiasts to gain hands-on experience in hairdressing, makeup, beauty and skin esthetics.
Fashion Designing- a program designed to enable aspirants with an inclination or understanding of fashion designing skills needed in today's fashion industry.
More than 80 women and girls have applied for one of the two courses at the Foundation's Center of Excellence and gained expertise. Many of them are now either employed or have opened their own beauty salon or boutiques in nearby vicinities and are earning quite well.
In the process of continual improvement, Wingify Foundation soon introduced another program under Project Unnati as 'Basic Computer Learning' for those who thrive to achieve computer literacy.
Basic Computer Learning - a program that allows individuals to acquire the confidence to use and operate computers, understand the basic computer components and terminologies, easily create documents using MS Office, browse through the internet, search for content, know how to send emails as well as collaborate with peers.
The program was launched at the beginning of 2020 and is open for any and everyone to apply. At present, the pilot batch has about 30 students from various backgrounds, studying together with a common aim - learn and excel in life.
The Center of Excellence also stays in touch with its ex-students and often invites them to join current batches on various occasions to inspire the aspiring students. The success stories of the alumni motivate new students and encourage teachers and people associated with the project to work harder and with more enthusiasm.
One of the best things about the Wingify Foundation is that they provide knowledge and resources free of cost, unlike other similar organizations. They not only ensure that we attend every single class, religiously, but pay attention to our learnings and whether or not we've grasped a concept correctly.
